About Us

Musselburgh Art Club, SC004305 Registered charity from 20 May 1971

Welcome to Musselburgh Art Club

The club was formed in 1969 and we have our own premises at Bridge Street in Musselburgh, just across the road from the main entrance to the Brunton Hall. We rent our building from East Lothian Council, and have the advantage of having access at any time, unlike many other clubs.

We always welcome new members. If you are thinking about membership, you can come along two or three times before joining to see the premises and facilities. You can bring some work along if you like, or just have a cup of coffee and a chat.

About the club
We are a small, friendly club of amateur artists. We are always happy to welcome kindred spirits of all abilities!

Membership fees for the club are currently £85 a year, running from September to August. New members pay a pro-rata amount. Your membership fee covers rent, utility bills and various other expenses.

For a nominal amount, members can also have a key to the clubhouse, so you can have access at any time you like, 7 days a week.

Club activities
Members gather at the clubhouse mainly on weekday mornings, and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings. You can choose to draw, paint etc, or chat and drink coffee; some members bring their lunch with them if they feel like staying into the afternoon.

We occasionally arrange tutorials and crit nights when they are affordable. We do not have regular tuition, but members are always willing to give advice to each other (if wanted)!

Musselburgh Art Club is supported by a grant from East Lothian Council.

The club has many resources for use by members, including:

An extensive library of art books and DVDs
A mount cutter for framing
Advice when asked for!

An annual exhibition in Musselburgh Old Town Hall, which takes place in August
Arrangements to hang paintings in the Tide Cafe on Portobello Promenade, and in the new surgery complex beside Tesco in Musselburgh
